Aspen Adventure & Family at Ozarks in July 2021

Covid is still a big part of our lives with a new varient emerging - Delta.  And we are still wearing masks in public places (well, some of us are).  And our Congressmen are not doing anything for us while they try to be difficult and get headlines.  Same old, same old.  Very disturbing.

We had many good times on a personal level though!

Another big biking month for us.  We spent hours planning our Aspen Adventure bike trip to ride with Terri & Kent from Frisco to Aspen, then hike from Aspen to Crested Butte.  It did not go as planned as so many of these adventures go.

The ride short version is this:  We had fires in Glenwood Canyon last year and we had heavy rain this year that caused mudslides and closed Glenwood Canyon so we could not get through to do our ride as planned.  We rode from Frisco, drove to Leadville to leave a car, drove to Snowmass with 4 bikes on back, and rode from there.  We did ride up to Glenwood Canyon and around the town which was awesome.  Heat was an issue all month.

Hike from Aspen to Crested Butte.  Let's just say this turned into the Aspen Disaster with no one hurt (just lost), amazing incredibly huge and beautiful wildflowers (our timing was perfect), and a great story to tell for years to come.

Ready to leave Terri & Kent on the trail & meet them on the other side - the Crested Butte side of the mountain.

biking around Snowmass and to Aspen on the Rio Grande paved bike trail

This month we also drove (without a camper) to Vicki's lake house in Mattoon, Illinois.  Then met her kids and their kids for a family vacay at Lake of the Ozarks.  Our parents owned a house there when we were adults but we have good memories from there.  So this was back to that area.  What a great time with family.  Scott and I kayaked and swam and enjoyed being on the lake and with the gang.

the kids on our boat ride - Vicki's boat.

Our bike riding Louisiana friends, John & Sallie, visited Colorado.  We spent a couple nights in Grand Lake and enjoyed Golden.

John & Sallie in Grand Lake with us.  We suggested they need to buy a camper. ha ha.

Terri & Kent bought a camper!!!  And it's exactly like ours.  ha ha...  Their first camping trip at St. Vrain State Park - so we had to visit them.  We are going to have SO MUCH FUN!

We got tested for Covid after each trip so we could visit with Scott's daughter's family and have his grandkids here.  We enjoy them and always keep busy with biking, games, rock painting, crafts, baking, picnicking, etc.
bean bags and bingo are two favorite games
