Mt Kenya hike

Cold and rainy day hike but very pretty. Too high for big animals up there but great views and plants with lots of water flowing.  On the way out of park while driving, we saw a troop of baboons and 3 zebras! So exciting. Great Saturday!
Internet situation is frustrating.  I may have to give up on posting photos. Bummer because the photos are awesome!!!

Teaching day 4 - Posts are taking a very long time so there may not be many more....life is good. Hakuna matata

Some of the students in my computer class....at morning tea (every day at 10:30), and afternoon tea at 4:00.  They were wonderful and eager to learn.

more photos from our van

photos from Monday

Nairobi to Meru - wow!

What an amazing day we had today!  The sights on our four-hour drive north to Meru were fascinating, beautiful, incredible!  Still can't believe I'm in Kenya.

We saw:  acacia trees, colobus monkeys, local markets in every little town we went through, goats, cows, and people everywhere - walking along the roads, bicycling along the road, selling wood, fruit, charcoal, fish, and providing every kind of services you can think of.

Our road was paved the entire way.  The scenery kept changing and we watched out the windows the whole way.  There's no way to describe the scenes except in pictures.

Lunch was atTrout Tree restaurant down a dirt road.  The restaurant is open air, built on several decks around a huge tree.  The grounds are trout ponds.  I ordered fresh grilled trout.  Had to wait for out trout to be caught before they could grill it.  So delicious!  Wonderful experience & food!  This is where we watched the colobus monkeys.

Colobus monkeys - they're BIG!

I'm bummed out that I can't get photos to load - internet is not fast enough.  I'll try again tomorrow - perhaps internet will be good at Kenya Methodist University - where we will be teaching teachers.

We are here

Arrived in Nairobi tonight!!

Got here in the dark so Nairobi looked like any city. Up early to get ready to go to Meru tomorrow. Loud cat fight happening outside now...real cats(small ones), really screaming at each other. Funny.

Hoping to get some sleep soon. Yeah! We are in Africa!
