Blake came from Colorado and we drove with Kit and Kathy (from Australia Larry trip) to meet Kathleen and Terry (Australia and Balkans Larry trips). It was a great reunion in an interesting city. Unfortunately, it was rainy like most winter days here. There was more than we could do in our short time and with the rainy weather, but what we saw was impressive. And it was tons of fun to see those folks! Kathleen and Terry live there so they were the best tour guides we could have.

View of the waterfront from lunch at the Pike Place Market. We bought fresh salmon and huge scallops (from Maine) and had an awesome seafood dinner that night at home (and a second night too). |

We did not get to Lake Washington, Lake Union, or Mercer Island and instead rode the monorail built for the Seattle World's Fair in 1962 to the Space Needle (also built for the World's Fair) and we did not go up in it because of poor visibility. Next to it is the Dale Chihuly Glass Museum which will be for another trip (he is from Tacoma).
We did go to the Gates Foundation complex across from Seattle Center and were impressed with all they have done for the world. The public building is small but the displays of their projects are informative and impressive.

The International Fountain at the Seattle Center, near the Space Needle and the EMP (Experience Music Project). On the hour the fountain is choreographed to music and we saw that! It's huge and beautiful. |

The PIG at the Pike Place Market - where we met Kathleen and Terry. Everyone knows the PIG and now we do too! The Market is 4 floors of shopping of all kinds, including the fish and flower markets. |

The moon going down one morning: view from Kirin's deck. Beautiful! |
