The name.... Scott is called Scooter by my family because my brother-in-law is Scott and calling them both Scott causes way too much confusion for my parents. He's also known to some as Scutie (Scott + Cutie). It's been a great year with Scutie so far.
His last name..... looks like Reeh but is pronounced Ray.
We both like to stay active outdoors, travel, and try new adventures so that's been fun and fabulous.
Some highlights:
We had Epic ski passes for 2017-18 and we skied a lot and loved it. A couple time we had overnights in Breckenridge for fun staycation/ski trips.
We drove our bikes up to Allenspark, camped at Olive Ridge campground (lots of trees, big sites, bear boxes), and rode & hiked. The photo of Scott is at Finch Lake, starting from Allenspark trailhead. Neither of us caught any fish, and it rained, but it was a good day.
We kayaked quite a bit but only got out for a sunset/ full moon kayak once. It was a good one though!

With Scott's grandkids at the Cider Fest in October. |
Road trip! With bikes of course! We drove through South Dakota, riding bikes on the Mickelson Rail Trail from our campground near Hill City south to Custer. This water tower to fill steam trains reminded us both of Petticoat Junction. We visited Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse too. The Black Hills are awesome.

A highlight was riding this part of the Elroy-Sparta Rail Trail as we drove through Wisconsin. We started in late afternoon and went through this tunnel (very dark, wet, chilly), and part way through the second tunnel before we went back to find dinner at the only bar open in Wilton. Rode back to Elroy and our campsite in the dark with millions of bugs (and lightning bugs). Very cool.
Our road trip destination was a bike ride through Door County. Heather & Paul (from CA) met us in Wisconsin for the ride (organized by PAW). We had mostly great weather, very little traffic, and tons of fun seeing the peninsula. What a beautiful place! Highly recommend a visit.
Scott also got to ride on the Wauponsee Rail Trail when he came to Illinois with me in August for Dad's 90th birthday. The picture is not there, but is from our bikepacking trip from Scott's to Chief Hosa Campground & back. We rode Clear Creek Canyon trail for the first time - it's short. And the absolutely stunning red rocks at the Cathy Johnson Trail leading to the Coyote Song Trail (north of Deer Creek Canyon road).
One of the most beautiful bike rides ever. Off of Cathy Johnson Trail in Lakewood.
Scott retired! In name only though. We celebrated at Marco's hot dogs and tacos at 17th and Main with Terry & Kent. And then he started working a lot at the Boulder Brookdale, so he's not really retired but he's headed that way.
We went to some outdoor music. At this Sheryl Crow concert at Hudson Gardens, we got rained on for hours! The skies cleared finally and Sheryl played.
We also saw Blondie at New West Fest - great weather!
And David Byrne at Red Rocks - awesome weather!
Our college friend Karen and her husband met us at the end of the Door County ride. It was a very fun reunion for us 3 college buddies and the first time with significant others.
Scooter Bars - I created a recipe for these delicious bars that we take with us for a healthy yummy snack. They are made of nuts, seeds, oats, peanut butter, and sweetener.
Bike Racks in garage - so we could hang 7 of our 9 bikes! I plan to add a photo because it was our first big project together and we are proud of it.
