Some highlights and photos from the first few months of the year in Colorado.
We love Colorado, our friends, the outdoors, the sunshine! But we also like travel so the time here in Longmont is precious. Besides the wonderful things listed below, I got to do some Sunday runs with DGz, meet the GWITS for Friday morning breakfasts, go to sew days with In-Stitches friends, and generally enjoy runs or biking, hiking or meals with friends.
January
Snowshoe and cross country ski weekend at YMCA of the Rockies with Ann, Anne, and Ann. A very good ladies' ski/snowshoe trip.Scott's grandkids came for an overnight! We played Bingo at home a lot and made beautiful cupcakes. Fun!

One week in Sedona... We loved it! Biked and hiked and explored Sedona, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, and the old mountain town of Jerome. Unfortunately due to stupid Trump's government shutdown, all National Parks and National Monuments were closed. We did a short hike at Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona - nice views but nothing petrified. Such a bummer. Next time we drive there we will stop at lots of parks and monuments.
We did our second pet sit from Trusted Housesitters.com This was in Frisco for 2 nights with a sweet dog named Linus. The house was very cold with lots of windows and beautiful views, right next to the bike path. We snowshoed, skied at Copper Mountain, and hiked across the snow-packed paths.
Oatmeal run in Lafayette with Scott, Steph & Steve, Bruce B., and more friends. Always a good time.
Started playing euchre at Bootstrap Brewery again in Niwot on Wednesdays and also in Longmont on Tuesdays. We like it.
We started swimming again but both don't love it.
February
Skied on our Copper 4-pack with Scott and an overnight at a Hilton hotel because of a good deal. We got some good skiing in and met Joyce and Peter to ski twice. Also met Barb and Paula but couldn't ski with those speed demons - but met for lunch.
Yurt trip to Tennessee Pass with DGz - tons of snow! Very beautiful but a harrowing drive there. Dinner at the yurt.
Snowshoe above Eldora with neighbors Jim & Karen from their cabin. Awesome!
Quilters started another group quilt after not having done one for years! Bookcase theme and I'm in.

We saw Young Frankenstein at Longmont Theater Company - they are doing some great productions!
My youngest granddaughter Jaymie got engaged and we are so happy for her. Ezra is a very nice young man. They are both in college in Utah.

Jaymie and Ezra got engaged. Wedding in Utah in August! |
Saw FACE at Nissi's with friends and Scott's first time to see them and to go to Nissi's. They are so entertaining!
We had our first Bomb snow cyclone - good one to stay in the house for.
Teanna graduated from Massage Therapy school and passed her written exam! Yay! She's been wanting that certificate for a long time and she did the work. Buffy organized a dinner to honor her.

Scott's grandkids came for a visit - 2 nights and lots of fun. Brendan can now ride his bike on his own thanks to Grandpa. They both learned to sew on a machine and enjoyed it. We baked, did puzzles, and played games.
April
I flew to Illinois to visit with Dad who is still in his home but getting forgetful. He is so lonely but afraid to do anything different. We visited Bonnie R. at Clarendale senior housing center - what a beautiful place. We went to see Vicki's new lake house which is being built. I did as much yard work as the weather would allow - for my sanity. Sad and depressing situation and we just wish Dad could be happy. Mom has been gone one year.
