Summer! Yay for outdoor fun.

Summer finally came and it included all the usual activities: 

Travel

biking

backpacking

hiking

running

YAY!!!

June - much of the month was in Illinois and we also enjoyed Colorado.  Biking, kayaking, hiking, euchre, sew days for me, and Sunday runs with DGz.

July - we drove to a week-long bike trip in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, with stops along the way for bike riding in Omaha,  DePere and Green Bay, family in Marquette, a wedding in lower Michigan, and to see Vicki in Manhattan on the way home.  Then my supported week of backpacking the last 4 segments of the Colorado Trail with Ann and new friends. Whew!

August - Another driving vacation...to Vicki's new house at Lake Mattoon, Illinois.  We helped them build deck railing, get grass growing, and anything else they needed.  Plus we fished and had water fun with family.

Scott and I drove to our week long bike ride in Michigan's upper peninsula with stops and rides along the way.  Our first night was in Omaha, Nebraska at Memorial Park.  Chris Isaaks did their live 4th of July concert.  And it was hotter than a firecracker & they ran out of water.  Good time though.

We visited Jen & Tom at their home and their restaurants in Marquette, Michigan, Upper Peninsula.  Such a good visit!

On the drdive home from the U.P. we went to Eleanor and John's wedding in Wyoming, Michigan.  So nice to be able to celebrate with them. 

Hiking the last 4 segments of the Colorado Trail with Chris's group.  We were fully supported and only carried a day pack.  They fed us and brought our gear and tents to the next location.  So awesome!

The amazing and accomplished ladies on the Colorado Trail hike.  Too bad for the 2 men who came.  They were so outnumbered. 

Another photo of the trail - mostly above 12,000 feet but dropping to end in Durango.  The last day was torrential rain for hours.  Miserable, but I had my good rain gear and umbrella this time.  

Our camp at Camp Dick by Peaceful Valley.   We staged a car and hiked one way from St. Vrain Mtn. Trailhead in Allenspark back to Camp Dick.  Beautiful hike to the top.  But it was longer than expected and we ran out of water, had to cross a raging water crossing, and get over 50 or more trees blown down.  Tough!

We both have Loco Sticks to attach to our bikes to ride the kayaks to McIntosh Lake.  Very fun.
