This morning, 5 of us (hardy and brave) joined our guide Nick for an addition to the regular canyon hike that most people did. We descended to the canyon floor and did a few miles of trail in the canyon and then climbed hundreds more stairs to get back to the top of the canyon.
It was my favorite hike so far!!!! Primordial...like scenes from Indiana Jones with waterfalls, ferns, vines, and a river that carved out miles of rock overhangs and made wavy curves along the narrow canyon walls. It was very difficult but so worth it!
I learned a new Kiwi expression....this hike was "a box of fluffy ducks" . That's really good! If someone asks how ya going mate? You can also say "I'm a box of fluffy ducks".
Note to self: From the Grand Canyon Loop car park near Blackheath, we followed the trail down to Neates Glen in the canyon and then up to Evans Lookout.
